The Senior Manager of the Optical Laboratory plans, organizes, prioritizes, and monitors workflow of a single optical laboratory with an annual sustained average volume over 400 Rxs/day (including intercompany work) or leadership of two optical laboratory locations regardless of their volume as defined by their immediate leader. Manage the financial performance of the facilities. Ensure internal and external customer expectations are met and exceeded. Manage, train, and evaluate staff to achieve and maintain facility standards.
Responsible for the overall performance of the facilities, including exceeding production and productivity goals; assigning, distributing, and monitoring the work of all assigned units to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely processing of lens orders and adherence to department standards
Responsible for financial performance of laboratories, including profitability and loss, and fiscal performance of their business unit
Analyze financial performance of their facilities and partner with their leader to resolve issues and/or increase profitability
Manage headcount through effective and efficient labor management; develop, maintain, and monitor work instructions and standards of the overall facility; responsible for staffing plan of the facilities
Responsible for the creation of procedures and processes; ensures all employees, including leaders, are adhering to these procedures, processes, and policies
Execute, understand, apply, and communicate strategic goals and business solutions at the facilities
Responsible for all systems of the facility; ensures proper operation and monitors, responds to, and escalates any deficiencies
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and external business partners; establish and maintain partnerships with business teams across all lines of business
Support sales generation when interacting with customers and partners with Sales divisions to hand off and close the sale
Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of employees and the facilities; ensures safety audits and inspections occur, including facilities, machinery, and equipment; partners with appropriate business partners to correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 1 additional year of experience related to functional area
Minimum of 3 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance of direct reports
Previous manufacturing experience
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across geographies and functions
Demonstrated continuous improvement and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability in customer service, sales generation, and client relationships
Demonstrated ability to analyze and modify work processes and policies
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including the ability to present data and status
Demonstrated ability to work with peers, partners, others, and actively engage in collaborative cross-functional projects
Familiar with manufacturing equipment and computerized production support tools
Working Conditions
